It always bugs me when manufacturers can’t be b othered to paint the bumpers. It doesn’t look tough or rugged to me. It screams base model, regardless of cost.

*ahem* it is the base model. It’s a work truck after all.

Still though, they couldn't spray a little further down?

I think it looks particularly bad on something like this with a bumper that goes up so high. Most work trucks and passenger cars that had unpainted bumpers that I can recall didn’t have modern complex molded bumpers. Generally, work trucks just have the parts that would be chrome unchromed.

Isn’t the entire point of work models having large plastic bumpers, is that it’s more hard wearing and tough? You don’t have to worry about paint scratches, and it makes the vehicle cheaper, which is great for fleets. What benefit would painted bumpers for these hard working trucks, other than looking a bit nicer?

Here in North America we never got to the point where cheap base model german vehicles roamed the streets like H ondas and Toyotas, so the idea of a stripped down benz is contrary to what the brand represents here: Wealth.
Most people buying a new Mercedes here are doing it for the badge. For the most part nobody here is going to buy a Mercedes for work truck fleet service type of use, and those who would actually buy one would probably be after the image more than anything else, so grey plastic bumpers probably aren’t going to be well received.
I guess people did like the AllRoad though. And the Promaster is ugly as fuck and covered in similar plastic.
Maybe I'm wrong.

Even if it’s a warmed over Nissan Navara, which is a good truck, I kinda hoped would have gone the professional route first, such as with the Sprinter series, or at least offer and market a “work” version as well. Gain a legitimacy with the “work” side which will transfer over to the play side.
But what do I know, not sure how this truck is marketed since we are not getting it yet in the US. Just that every thing I’ve seen so far in publications is all about luxury.
This white truck with grey plastic front bumpers does scream “work / base” model. Pretty excited about that to be honest.
